I think 18g is too light for fencing and you need either galvanized or somehow other coated nails (which I don't know if exist).

Just regular wood fencing. Last few I built were with deck screws and hammer and nails. Nothing wrong with that but I think I'll be doing more this time round, so I'm seriously thinking about getting a nail gun. $200 for the gun more than offsets the time savings.
