What to use to strip finish off a Remington stock?

Dec 16, 2010·Grab a handful of shavings and use it to wipe the scum off the stock. When you are done just sweep up the shavings and the mess is gone. For some reason this seems to soak up the finish remover better than just about anything else. A handful of coarse sawdust works well too, but is a little messier. Try Citristrip.

Aug 31, 2012·Steel wool with very fine steel wool in between coats. Repeat for 20 coats for a good durable finish that will be proud to display. Any scratches or scrapes can be easily repaired with steel wool and reapplying Tru-Oil to the area. The finish will be about the same color as it would be if you rubbed the unfinished stock with a damp rag.
